Franklin Stars in 7-4 Black Bears Win
The Washington Black Bears defeated the Saskatchewan Storm, 7-4, in Western League action at Gordie Howe Memorial Stadium. Jeff Franklin pulled his weight. The 14-year veteran went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Sugimoto Ohayashi picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Marv Vaughn suffered the loss. Washington is off to a hot start at 10-4.

Had Franklin not come through in the top of the ninth, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Franklin hit a 2-run single. The Black Bears never looked back after taking the 5-4 lead.

"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Franklin told the Washington Chronicle. "Whatever it takes."
