Starting pitcher Ralph Jensen pitched well enough to help the Washington Black Bears beat the Cleveland Rumble Fish, 6-5. Washington reliever Sugimoto Ohayashi was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Ronald Albert took the loss. Washington, now 9-3, has gotten their season off to a good start.

Washington took a 5-4 lead on José Ruíz's 2nd triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Ruíz hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Cleveland pitcher Chris Robertson visibly frustrated.

"We take it day by day here," said Ruíz, "and today was a good one for us."
