Denver Gold starter Kevin Mews kept the Minnesota Lake Monsters hitters in check, leading his team to a comfortable 9-1 win. Denver is now 44-48, Minnesota 49-44.

Denver used the hitting of Tom Hodgson to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Gold on top, 8-0. For the game, Hodgson had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"It was our day today," Mews told the Denver Times. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
