Batting titles are tough to come by. It takes a lot of talent, hard work, consistency, few slumps, good health and a little luck.
Jarrod Fawkes of the Chicago White Sox put it all together this year and led the American League with a .337 batting average (169-for-501).
The White Sox catcher played in 131 games, ending the season with 35 doubles, 2 triples, 32 home runs, 80 runs and 99 runs batted in.
"When you work hard, good things happen," Fawkes explained to reporters after winning the coveted award. "Slumps happen to everyone, but you won't break out of one without hard work. I think that's one of the prime reasons for my success this season."

The Math Says - Cubs Out of Playoffs
Monday, October 1st , 2035
That they came exceptionally close to qualifying for the playoffs will likely provide little solace for fans of the Chicago Cubs -- the team was mathematically eliminated from postseason contention today.
"I don't expect the fans to be happy with us," said Cubs third baseman Kevon Regans. "We're not happy with ourselves."
This is the club's 6th playoff miss in a row. They last appeared in the postseason in 2029. In total, the Cubs have missed the playoffs 141 times in their 165-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Cubs have made the playoffs 3 times. Chicago last won the World Series in 2027.
