Rays Rally For 6-3 Win
|
Texas got a terrific performance from pitcher Hagen Smith, but it wasn't enough to beat the Tampa Bay Rays. Tampa Bay won the Globe Life Field contest, 6-3. Smith threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The win was credited to Jimmy Lynch in relief. His record improves to 6-11. Jimmy Barton took the loss. The Rays go to 59-91 with the win.
Tampa Bay used a timely hit from Albert Centeno to get the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rays ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Centeno told a Tampa Bay News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
