Tarpons End Peabody Streak Thursday, June 25th , 2037 It was the best of both worlds for the Tampa Tarpons at George M. Steinbrenner Field, as they defeated the Clearwater Threshers, 14-2, and also snapped Brad Peabody's 23-game hitting streak. The 22-year-old Clearwater catcher failed to get a hit in 3 at-bats. "Nothing personal against Peabody, we just wanted to win the game," said Tarpons skipper . "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing." When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Peabody frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won." This year, Peabody is batting .413 with 2 home runs and 43 RBIs. In 51 games he has scored 28 times. |
