Chiefs Win Round 1 Thursday, September 17th , 2037 In a series that had a little bit of everything, the Peoria Chiefs have edged the Quad Cities River Bandits. The two rival clubs went the distance in the tightly-contested Round 1, with a 10-6 win in the clincher being the difference for Peoria and giving them the ticket to the Round 2 with a 4-3 series triumph. "We never stopped believing in ourselves. When push came to shove we were going to get it done," said David Rivera, who was named series MVP. For the series, Rivera hit .333 with a .375 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 3 runs. The Peoria Chiefs will play against the Great Lakes Loons in the next round. Great Lakes won their series against the Lansing Lugnuts 4 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
