River Bandits Advance to Round 2

Depending on your loyalties, the Round 1 was either thrilling or heartbreaking.
The series went down to its final game, with the Quad Cities River Bandits and the South Bend Cubs giving their fans plenty of drama. In the end, the River Bandits came out on top, winning 5-2 at Modern Woodmen Park today to take the series 4-3.
"We're lucky to be going into the Round 2," said Quad Cities pitcher Josh Baxter. "If all the series are like this, it'll definitely be an entertaining postseason."
Baxter earned series MVP honors, hitting for a .296 average, with 3 home runs, 7 RBI and 4 runs scored.
The Quad Cities River Bandits will play against the Lake County Captains in the next round. Lake County won their series against the Great Lakes Loons 4 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.

Captains Win Round 1

The Lake County Captains said they felt the Round 1 with the Great Lakes Loons would go the distance.
But it didn't end up being that difficult, as Lake County advanced to the Round 2 with a 7-4 score, to clinch the series 4-2 at Classic Park.
"Whether it goes to the final game or not, we faced a good team and got the job done. It's a big momentum boost for us," said Jonathan Blanchette, who was named series MVP. "We're all feeling good about our chances to win the Round 2."
For the series, Blanchette hit .440 with a .462 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 2 runs.
The Lake County Captains don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Quad Cities River Bandits - South Bend Cubs series. South Bend leads the series 3 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
