Rios Tags Indians for 5 Hits
Monday, April 20th , 2037
It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Eric Rios -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Huntington Park and paced the 15-2 Clippers win over the Indianapolis Indians.
After his dynamite batting performance, the Columbus center fielder told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control."
His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book. Eric Rios hit a solo-shot off Danny Schroeder in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This season, Rios has hit at a .400 clip with 9 RBIs, 1 home runs and 7 runs scored. He has played in 7 games.
