Hager Blasts 3 into Bleachers Friday, August 18th , 2062 Bullhead City Catfish center fielder Matt Hager put on a dazzling display of power at Scottsdale Stadium against the Scottsdale Salamanders. In the 9-2 Catfish victory, Hager penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Scottsdale manager Jason Wood said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 21-year-old had 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Hager said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Matt Hager flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Steve Standifer in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Terry Eaves in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Julian Hawkins in the 8th. Currently Hager is hitting .219 and has collected 3 home runs, 10 RBIs and scored 6 times, while playing in 23 games. |
