Deason Smacks 5 Hits for Orioles
Saturday, June 25th , 2061
Hampton catcher Danny Deason had a fantastic day at the plate at Hampton Stadium, knocking out 5 hits and pacing his club to a win, 20-0.
"It was like I was hitting Little League pitching," Deason said after his 5-for-5 performance against the Royals. "No offense meant to Burlington, but it was like I was back in little league again -- I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid park, it was Hampton Stadium."
After the game, his manager elaborated on the catcher's improvements, saying Deason spent the offseason trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball.
"That's what I'm trying to do," Deason said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
Danny Deason singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Neto Lopes in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Yaden Perez in the 7th and doubled in the 8th.
This year, Deason is hitting .421, produced 5 RBIs and 2 home runs, scored 4 times and gotten on base at a .450 rate.
