Miners Advance to Divisional Series Tuesday, September 20th , 2050 It went the distance, but the Welch Miners finally disposed of the Hampton Orioles 1-0 in the series clincher at Welch Fields. Winning the finale gave the Miners the series, 4-3. They will now advance to the Divisional Series. The Most Valuable Player Award went to Welch shortstop Nick Bourgeau. He batted .389 in the series, collecting 6 RBIs and scoring 2 runs. "Nick deserves it," said Miners manager Mark Reed. "He was the glue that held our club together."
