League Punishes Pair for Fighting Saturday, April 13th , 2052 Yesterday at Modern Woodmen Park Skyler Chara and A.J. Fabricant got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Quad Cities River Bandits and Cedar Rapids Haymakers. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Chara will have to sit out 5 while Fabricant would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Chara has a .278 average and a .435 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 5 hits, no home runs and driven in 1 runs. |
