Pérez Batters Northwest Arkansas for 5 Hits
Wednesday, May 22nd , 2052
It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Edwin Pérez today -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Dr. Pepper Ballpark and paced the RoughRiders to a 26-1 win over the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.
After his dynamite batting performance, the Frisco second baseman told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control."
His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. Edwin Pérez singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 4th, walked in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, was hit by a pitch in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
On the season, Pérez is batting .339 with 2 home runs and 30 RBIs. He has played in 39 games.
