Closer Gutzman Will Retire Saturday, May 25th , 2052 Roger Gutzman said he would rather walk away from the game than be forced out of it. At 42 years of age, the Norfolk Tides closer today announced that this season will be his last. "I'm happy to get out with my health still intact and at a young enough age where I can look forward to the rest of my life," Gutzman said. Over his career Gutzman has converted 88 saves. He has put together a 138-146 won-lost record, while striking out 2234 batters in 2401.2 innings. In 624 games, he has compiled a 4.22 ERA. |
