Athletics Vila Decides to Retire Thursday, April 11th , 2052 Ending weeks of speculation, B.J. Vila announced his retirement today. The Athletics reliever has been reportedly weighing the decision since last year, sources close to Vila say. "I'm not going to deny it's been a difficult decision," Vila said, speaking to the rumors, "but it's time. It took me a while to realize that, but it's time to leave the game." Taking the hill 509 times in his career, Vila has compiled an ERA of 3.50 with 107 saves. He has tossed 1777.1 innings with 1882 strikeouts and 360 free passes. Opponents have hit .249 against him. His won-lost record stands at 105-107. |
