Towns Booms 4 HR Against Arizona
Monday, September 13th , 2055
Fans at Chase Field won't soon forget the raw display of power put on by San Diego Padres right fielder Virgil Towns. Towns smashed 4 home runs in San Diego's 13-4 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
"To be honest with you, I have never even thought about hitting this many home runs in a game," Towns said to reporters after the game. "Only legends hit this many home runs in a game and I ain't no legend."
In his history-making performance, Towns victimized Arizona hurlers for 4 hits in 4 at-bats with 4 runs scored and 5 RBIs.
"What he did was unbelievable," said Arizona manager Tim Cooper. "My guys gave it their best, but he hit some fine pitches. He was like -- he was in automatic home run mode today. He just had that great swing. It didn't matter what we threw him. It was gone."
Virgil Towns hit a solo-shot off Shane Daksi in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Shane Daksi in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Stuart O'Dell in the 4th and hit a two-run home run off Stuart O'Dell in the 5th.
Looking at his stats this year, Towns has compiled a .262 batting average, while hitting 28 home runs and driving in 87 runs. He has played in 135 games and scored 88 runs.
