Modica Slams 5 Hits for Baltimore Monday, August 24th, 2026 Dave Modica exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Nationals Park. The Baltimore second baseman had a field day in the 13-0 triumph over the Washington Nationals, finishing 5-for-5. "My hitting philosophy is simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Modica must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. Dave Modica hit a three-run home run off Bryan Engman in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 5th, singled in the 7th and walked in the 9th.
