Athletics Come up Short of Playoffs Monday, October 8th , 2046 The Oakland Athletics will have to focus on playing for pride for the remainder of the season. Today, the team was officially eliminated from playoff contention. Oakland last appeared in the postseason in 2044. This is their 2nd consecutive year missing the playoffs, and in total they have not advanced past the regular season 51 times in their 67-year history.
