Memphis's Snyder Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits
Tuesday, July 15th , 2064
The Detroit Tigers downed the Memphis Blues, 5-4, at Comerica Park, in spite of the best efforts of Memphis second baseman Jimmy Snyder. Snyder lashed the ball all over the park in a 5-hit explosion, finishing with a 5-for-6 line -- and a loss.
"I don't remember a better day batting, but it sure is disappointing to lose the game," he said to BNN reporters in the postgame interview. "A win would have made the day much sweeter."
Asked if he would adjust his strategy next time the Tigers face Snyder, Detroit manager Andrew Burdick said "absolutely not."
"Our strategy was to not give him good pitches to hit," he said. "We didn't do that, and he worked us over. Thankfully, we won anyway, and next time we'll pitch to him better."
Jimmy Snyder singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, singled in the 9th and flied out in the 11th.
This season in 83 games, Snyder is batting .278 with 14 home runs, 39 RBIs and has scored 63 times.
