20 Games in a Row for Carthan
Tuesday, May 21st, 2019
With 1 hit at Fenway Park today, Jaylin Carthan added another game to his hitting streak -- the Boston second baseman has now hit safely for 20 games in a row. But the hitting feat wasn't enough for the Red Sox today, as they fell, 10-1, to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
"Frankly, I don't care about hits," Pittsburgh manager Juan Ortega said later. "I'll let him get 3 hits in 3 at-bats if it means we get a win." Jaylin Carthan was hit by a pitch in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th and grounded out in the 8th.
This year Carthan is hitting .409, produced 27 RBIs and 2 home runs, scored 22 times and gotten on base at a .464 rate.
