Channell Picked AL Player of the Week Monday, June 2nd , 2064 Memphis fans have something to crow about today as Memphis center fielder Steve Channell nabbed the American League Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days. "I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said Channell. He posted a .478 average (11-for-23) this past week with 4 home runs, 5 RBIs, and 6 runs scored. This year, Channell is hitting .406 with 11 home runs and 27 RBIs in 46 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .449 with 12 walks and 29 runs scored. |
