Streak Finally Over, Waite Held Hitless Saturday, May 4th , 2052 The Cleveland Indians lost to the Cincinnati Reds 4-2 today at Great American Ball Park, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Harrison Waite's 21-game hitting streak. The right fielder went 0-for-4 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Waite, we would win the game," Reds manager Dave Lockett explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." In the 2052 season Waite is hitting .314 with 5 home runs. |
