6-0 Loss Extends Pittsburgh Losing Streak
|
The Fresno Falcons got a stellar effort from pitcher Ryan Perevalov, helping Fresno score a win over the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-0. Perevalov, now 2-2, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 5, walking 4, and allowing no runs. Fresno has a record of 9-15.
Hubert Berchtold had a big 2-run home run for the Falcons in the bottom of the first inning. With Fresno leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 34-year old right-handed pitcher Mason Napier and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Falcons on top, 3-0.
"No one likes losing," said Pittsburgh manager Mike Burch. "We've hit a tough patch, but we're going to get through it."
