Cardinals Beat Expos in 12
|
The St. Louis Cardinals picked up a win at Olympic Stadium, dropping the Montreal Expos, 4-2, in 12 innings. Ethan McNeal, who finished 2nd in the NL in ERA with 3.45 in 2057, was the difference-maker. The loss drops Montreal to 10-13.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Hánnibal Hernández? The 26-year old right fielder Hernández stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 12th inning to put St. Louis up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Our team showed some resilience," said Hernández.
