Braves Stop Giants, 5-1
|
Starting pitcher Mathew Parrish fulfilled his part of the bargain, helping the Atlanta Braves stymie the San Francisco Giants, 5-1. Despite the loss, San Francisco still owns an impressive 14-7 record.
Zachary Edris had a big 2-run double for the Braves in the bottom of the first inning. With Atlanta leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a sinker from Mark Weiss, who finished 3rd in the AL in ERA with 2.67 in 2058, and swatted a double to left. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Braves ahead, 3-0.
Said losing manager Miles Waterbury: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
