Bananas Suffer One-Run Loss at Hickory
|
The Hickory Crawdads knocked off the Savannah Bananas, 2-1, in South Atlantic League action at L.P. Frans Stadium. Hickory pitcher and Maywood, California, native Linden Baumgartner had an outstanding performance. Baumgartner picked up the win for Hickory, going 5.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 4-1. Hickory is now 43-53.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Crawdads had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when right fielder P.J. Brooks hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Jack Benally and made the score 2-0, Crawdads. Brooks went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles.
"Tough loss," said Savannah manager Ryan McMullen. "Tough one to swallow."
