The Hickory Crawdads got a superb performance from pitcher Sterling Green, but the Lexington Legends still won the game, 3-2. Green threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Adrian Longrie, 2-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. Craig Stallbaumer stitched up the save, his 5th.

George Bates delivered a big hit for Lexington. The catcher drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Legends ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

Bates called the win a testament to his team's "grit."

Despite the win, the Legends still have a lousy 13-76 record.
