Suns Beat Hot Rods, 7-5
|
The Hagerstown Suns besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Bowling Green first baseman Jameson Tucker by beating the Hot Rods, 7-5, at Bowling Green Ballpark. Tucker went 1 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 times. Jason Elkin, who is tied for 6th in the SAL in wins with 8, was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 6 walks and 3 strikeouts. The Suns, at 40-46, sit in 7th place in the South Atlantic League Northwest Division.
Hagerstown used the hitting of Orlin Pech to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Suns on top, 2-0. For the game, Pech had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
In postgame comments to the Hagerstown News, Pech said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
