Bananas Stick Fireflies with 3-1 Loss
|
Savannah catcher Travis Pogorzelski played a vital role in his team's 3-1 triumph over Columbia. He went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Savannah. Savannah reliever Orber García picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Thomas Moore was saddled with the loss. Cameron Haisley closed it out for his 9th save.
Pogorzelski had a timely hit for Savannah in the top of the sixth. With Columbia trailing 1-0, he turned a 1-0 sinker into a 2-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season, making it 2-1, Savannah.
Afterward, Bananas manager Ryan McMullen was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
Savannah now has a 5-game win streak.
