Growlers Hold Off Bananas, 3-2
|
The Jonesboro Growlers had to overcome a fine effort from Savannah pitcher Thomas Casto to win, 3-2, at Ballpark of Savannah. Casto went 6 innings and allowed no runs. Eli Castell got the save, the 3rd for him this season. Jonesboro is now 36-48, Savannah 42-42.
Ulises Arias came through with a big-time hit for Jonesboro. The catcher smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"That's what this team is about," said Arias, "picking each other up."
