Fireflies Drop 6-1 Decision
|
The Kannapolis Intimidators downed the Columbia Fireflies, 6-1, at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. Neil Goff led the way, going 2-for-4 for Kannapolis. Jeremy Woods picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-1. Justin Clines was tagged with the loss. The Intimidators sport a record of 53-26.
Dale Fortune had a big solo home run for the Intimidators in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Kannapolis leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he got a fastball from Justin Clines and swatted a home run to center. It was his 11th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Intimidators ahead, 3-1.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Intimidators manager Jason McDonald, "I like our chances."
