Drive Take Tight Tango, 3-2
|
CMC-NorthEast Stadium was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Greenville Drive and Kannapolis Intimidators.
In a close game at CMC-NorthEast Stadium, the Greenville Drive edged the Kannapolis Intimidators, 3-2. Greenville catcher James Young stood apart with his performance. He was 4-4 with 4 singles. Rosario García snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits over 1.1 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. Walter Gulvan picked up the save for Greenville, his 2nd of the year.
Greenville used the timely hitting of Russ Grant to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Drive on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"The fact of the matter is that we had a shot to win," said losing manager Jason McDonald.
With the win over Kannapolis, the Drive improved to 41-37.
