Led by 20-year-old Patton Buffington, the Hagerstown Suns downed the Asheville Tourists, 4-2. Buffington went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Hagerstown. Storm Icenogle, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3 innings. Benjamin Fischer, credited with the save, is now 2 for 5 in save opportunities.
In the bottom of the second, Ayden Covington delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and the bases loaded, the Hagerstown center fielder hit a 2-run single, putting the Suns in front, 4-2.
After the game, Hagerstown manager Jeremias Robert applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
The Suns raised their record to 35-44.
