Legends Beat RiverDogs, 5-4
|
The Lexington Legends picked up a win at Whitaker Bank Ballpark, taking down the Charleston RiverDogs, 5-4. Starting pitcher Angelo Stewart was a big reason why. Stewart picked up the win for Lexington, going 6.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 3-4. Jayson Mills closed it out for his 10th save.
Lexington right fielder D.J. Matsuoka contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two down, he hit a cutter to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 26th hit of the season and put the Legends ahead, 2-0.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Legends manager Cameron McElfresh. "This one was nice to get."
Today's win puts Lexington at 24-54, while Charleston falls to 49-29.
