Hickory Beats Delmarva, 4-1
|
Sterling Green pitched a gem to lead Hickory to victory over the Delmarva Shorebirds, 4-1. Matthias Woods was called on to finish, recording his 1st save. Their 36-41 record puts the Crawdads 7th in the South Atlantic League Carolina Division.
Hickory used the timely hitting of Elias Goodwin to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Crawdads on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We played hard and won," said Green. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
