Fireflies Stomp RiverDogs, 14-0
|
The Columbia Fireflies used an offensive barrage to beat the Charleston RiverDogs, 14-0, at Spirit Communications Park. Isaac Cummings led the way, going 3-for-5 for Columbia. Thomas Moore picked up the win, improving his season record to 8-4. He struck out 7 in 6.2 innings. Charleston is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 6 in a row.
Matt Conley went 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He scored 2 runs for Columbia. The 22-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Eric Roath. It was his 13th RBI of the season.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Cummings told the Columbia Citizen.
