With center fielder Sebastian Ayala leading the charge, the Columbia Fireflies defeated the Hagerstown Suns, 8-4, at Ballpark of Hagerstown. Ayala went 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Ralph Blankinship, the winner, is now 5-3. He struck out 9 and walked 1 over 6 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. Columbia now owns a record of 45-29.

With Columbia leading 5-3 in the top of the third, Ayala hit a 2-run single off Hagerstown hurler Pepillo Barajas. It was the 63rd hit of the season for Ayala and put his team ahead, 7-3.
