Legends Lose By a Run at Hickory
The Hickory Crawdads claimed a close win over the Lexington Legends, due in large part to John Thompson. The Hickory left-hander pitched a great game to secure the 1-0 win. Thompson got the win, improving to 6-1. He gave up 2 hits and walked 3 over 6.2 innings. He allowed no runs. With the win, Hickory raised its record to 41-34.

The Crawdads got a big at-bat from left fielder Salvador Rubi. For the game, Rubi went 1 for 3 with a home run. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Hickory a 1-0 lead.

"John was hitting his spots," said Hickory manager Pitu Martínez. "It's hard to pitch better than that."
