Led by 21-year-old Sancho Menendez, the Columbus Catfish knocked off the Columbia Fireflies, 8-2. Menendez went 2-5 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Catfish. Ulisses Salazar snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-1 on the season. Immanuel Schmidt suffered the loss. Columbus now sports a record of 38-33.

With Columbus leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Menendez hit a fastball from Bevan Cloud for a grand slam home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Catfish ahead, 5-0.

"What a dismal performance," lamented losing manager Gunner Litherland.
