Lakewood Beats Columbus, 1-0
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Lakewood BlueClaws and the Columbus Catfish, Jonathan Reid was the difference-maker. The Lakewood right-hander spearheaded the 1-0 win. Reid got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 2 hits and walked 2 over 6.1 innings. Reid allowed no runs. Lee Hege earned save number 2 this season.
Merlin Muramoto, the 24-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Muramoto contributed a solo home run in the top of the second inning to put Lakewood up, 1-0.
"Against this team here, fangs out late in the game, it's nice to beat them," said Lakewood skipper Ben Schiappa.
The win boosts the BlueClaws to 28-38. The loss puts the Catfish at 26-40.
