Tourists Topple Bananas, 4-2
|
The Asheville Tourists faced a tough opponent in Savannah pitcher Orber García, but did just enough to pull out the victory at McCormick Field by a final score of 4-2. García went 5 innings and allowed no runs. Asheville reliever Mckinley Vogle was the winner. His record is now 3-0. The losing pitcher was Greg Lorenz. Ross Allen nailed down his 18th save.
Had Jonah Boothroyd not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Boothroyd hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Tourists.
"It was a good effort all around," said Boothroyd.
Asheville bumps their record to 35-32 with the win.
