Asheville Hot Streak Continues with 6-2 Win
|
Getting an impressive start from Hermes Rivera, Asheville beat Charleston by the score of 6-2. The winner was Rivera. He threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Jamaal Diggs. Kayden Wisecarver got credit for the save for Asheville. It was his 1st of the year.
Mathew Corrales had a big 2-run home run for the Tourists in the top of the fourth inning. With Asheville leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a sinker from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Jamaal Diggs and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Tourists on top, 4-1.
"This team's hitting on all cylinders," said Tourists manager Paul Smith.
The Tourists, at 41-24, sit in second place in the South Atlantic League Carolina Division.
