Fireflies Lick Power, 4-2
|
In the 4-2 Columbia win over West Virginia, the impact of Joseph Ramsay was substantial. Ramsay, who is tied for 10th in the SAL in stolen bases with 8, went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Columbia is 5th in the South Atlantic League Carolina Division with a record of 29-30.
Mondo Blas had a big 2-run double for the Fireflies in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Columbia leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from fireballing right-hander J.D. Zuniga and swatted a double to center. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Fireflies ahead, 4-1.
Said losing manager Mike Jefferson: "Not taking anything away from them, but we swung the bats better than what it showed."
