Grasshoppers Squelch Growlers Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Greensboro Grasshoppers used the hitting of second baseman Watkin White to subdue the Jonesboro Growlers, 3-0. For the game, White was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times. Austin Ewald snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Peyton Monroe suffered the loss. Killian Harwell picked up the save, his 5th.
White had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a full count cutter from Peyton Monroe, he banged a solo home run to left-center, giving the Grasshoppers a 1-0 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for White.
Said Jonesboro manager Cesar Mejia: "You just have to tip your cap sometimes."
Jonesboro, at 21-33, has lost 4 straight.
