Hot Rods Curb Suns, 3-1
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Ballpark of Hagerstown. But Honesto Luyando conjured up just enough offense to carry the Hot Rods past the Hagerstown Suns, 3-1. Luyando went 1-3 with a double and a walk. Elijah Mootz earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 4 innings. His record is now 2-0. Keith Shea recorded the save for Bowling Green, his 13th of the season.
One of the key players for the Hot Rods was designated hitter Kale Colon, who drilled a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning. For the game, Colon was 2-4 with 2 singles.
"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Luyando told the Bowling Green Daily News.
With the win, Bowling Green upped its record to 27-22.
