Growlers Pick Up 3-1 Road Win Over Savannah
|
Jack Benally, despite pitching well, was dismayed with the outcome: a hard-fought, 3-1 Savannah Bananas defeat at the hands of the Jonesboro Growlers at Ballpark of Savannah. Robin Reichling picked up the win in relief. Jack Benally took the loss for Savannah. The save was credited to José Torres, his 2nd.
Jonesboro used a well-timed hit by Jimmy Snyder to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Growlers ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"This was a tough loss," said Savannah manager Ryan McMullen. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
The 6th-place Growlers now have a record of 24-22.
