Braves Make Shorebirds 3-2 Losers
|
Getting a good performance from shortstop Lee Croft, the Rome Braves defeated the Delmarva Shorebirds, 3-2. Croft was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Braves. Tom Cubitt was the winning pitcher. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts. Rome is 21-26 and Delmarva, with the loss, 29-18.
Joe Preiss, who is tied for 5th in the SAL in stolen bases with 13, had a direct impact on the outcome. Preiss contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Rome up, 3-2.
