The Columbia Fireflies picked up a win at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium, knocking off the Delmarva Shorebirds, 4-2. On the mound for Columbia was right-hander Sanford Coley. He played a key role in the triumph. In 7 innings, Coley surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. The Fireflies now own a record of 26-18.

Columbia used a clutch at-bat from Phil Mattia to capture the win. The pinch hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Fireflies ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a humdinger.

"It was a team effort and I thought the guys had a good plan and approach," said Mattia after the game.
