Tourists Rally For Late Win Over BlueClaws
|
The Asheville Tourists downed the Lakewood BlueClaws, 5-3, at Lake Olmstead Stadium. Madaleno Solano led the way, going 3-for-5 for Asheville. Asheville reliever Delton Copeland picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Trevor Schmidt shouldered the loss. Picking up the save was Ross Allen, his 10th.
Had Edward Merino not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Merino hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Tourists.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Merino.
The 6th-place Tourists now have a win-loss record of 20-21.
